There is still this operation? RMC: Paris counterclaims Mbappe should pay 98 million euros

05, May 13th According to RMC, the wage arrears dispute case between Mbappe and Paris is in a tug-of-war. Paris filed a lawsuit against Mbappe on Monday that he should pay 98 million euros to the club.

Mbappe previously sued Paris for paying a 55 million euro arrears and successfully applied for a safe seizure of 55 million euros in early April. Paris counterattacked in the Judicial Court on Monday, demanding the revocation of the seizure and even counterclaiming Mbappe for owing the club money.

At the hearing on Monday, the Parisian lawyers believed that Mbappe "had not fully proved the appearance of the debt and failed to confirm any risk of recovery." Lawyer Thomas Azaro stressed: "The club has filed a lawsuit with the Judicial Court to revoke the decision (Legal Committee of the Professional Football League) to order it to pay 55 million euros ". The lawsuit will be heard on May 26, the same period as the date of the ruling of a procedural hearing on Monday.

What is more striking is that Paris has filed a "counterclaim claim" of 98 million euros: "Mbappe caused losses to the club through delaying tactics and deserves to repay the amount." Lawyer Renault Semergian told AFP: "The purpose is not to recover 98 million euros, but to prove that if he owes us money, his claim of creditorship is not valid."

The actual amount of seizure is only 14 million euros. Mbappe's attorney Thomas Clay retorted: "Where is the money? ... The seizure was not smooth and several banks refused to cooperate. We are facing the Qatar sovereign state that continues to invest in the club (owned by Qatar Sports Investment Company). When the accounts lack transparency and involve disputes with state entities, the risk of recovery is obvious."

The two sides have been fighting for a long time in sports arbitration institutions, but because the club initiated judicial proceedings, the institutions said they could not enforce the rulings that favored the players. Paris insisted that the two sides reached an oral agreement in the summer of 2023, stipulating that in order to maintain the club's financial health, players will give up some of the contract final payments when leaving the game without transfer fees. Lawyer Thomas Clay called this "nonsense".
