World Sports: A private school in Scotland won 45 tickets for Newcastle vs Barcelona, Newcastle fans are dissatisfied

Football

September 11th, the World Sports reported that a private school in Dundee, Scotland purchased dozens of tickets to the Champions League match between Newcastle and Barcelona, which aroused dissatisfaction among local fans in Newcastle.

This school, more than 200 kilometers from Newcastle, has won a total of 45 tickets to this popular event. This game is not only a battle for Newcastle to return to the European arena after two years, but also a key battle against Barcelona, one of the richest clubs with the deepest heritage of European football.

Newcastle United Fan Trust has formally protested after learning that the authorized suppliers provided tickets to the school. Trust Chairman Lisa Moore said in a statement: "We are not against young fans entering the field to experience such games, but the current ticket allocation mechanism has been widely controversial, and this matter undoubtedly adds fuel to the fire. We have members who pay membership fees every year that cannot guarantee tickets, and members who did not win the last draw will actively contact us."

" Since the lottery system is adopted, it means that everyone can't guarantee that tickets can be guaranteed. Because of this, it is even more painful when those who are not necessarily loyal supporters of the team get the opportunity to watch the game."

The school claims to have purchased tickets from authorized dealers (not sold directly by clubs) through group packages. Its students have watched Newcastle's game against Milan in 2023.

Currently only fans who purchase season tickets and pay the Cup surcharge ensure that they have tickets for this game, and the rest of the seats are allocated by lottery.
