June 10 The Athletic reported that Chelsea U21 striker Donnell McNelly has rejected the club's contract to stay and plans to leave this summer.

McNelly's existing contract expires this month, and Chelsea originally hopes to renew it. Although the 19-year-old scorer has been at the forefront of the youth training echelon scorer list in recent years, he has never won the first team's chance to play, so he decided to leave the team to seek professional competition opportunities.

Currently, many clubs in the Premier League and the English Football League (EFL) have expressed interest in McNelly. The star's primary goal is to join a team that provides the best first-team promotion channel to start a new stage of his career.

In addition to scoring 15 goals in 28 games in the U21 League this season, McNelly also showed his strength against first-team players in the team training game in March this year. According to The Athletic, he scored twice in the match against first-team players on behalf of the U21 team, helping the team win 3-0. Head coach Marescaine was dissatisfied with the first team and eventually canceled their holiday.

Since McNelly is not over 24 years old, Chelsea cannot charge transfer fees, but is entitled to youth training compensation. The player has played for the Blues since the U12 stage.
