Ranieri: I never scold my players. I just want to inspire the best side of everyone.

This is your last game as a coach at home at the Olympics, how are you feeling?

This is a very exciting emotion. I work in this job because football can bring all kinds of emotions, both positive and negative. Tonight will remain in my heart because of the passion and love that the fans of Rome have for me. I'm glad the players never gave up, they understand my language, I seldom raise my voice, which illustrates the wisdom of the locker room.

Why did you choose to start with Salmacoles and Paredes?

I need to send a defensive midfielder before the backline and two wingers as breakthroughs, not Paredes' bodyguard. I let Paredes and Conere pull the width apart and push forward, Paredes returns to the start because we need to have better control of the ball and we know we can pass quickly. I don't know, I try to be consistent with the team. Even though I don’t say much, I believe in dialogue and mutual respect. I always communicate face to face and not afraid to tell the truth. I never scold my players, I just point them out mistakes so that they can keep improving. I try to inspire the best of everyone and I want the players to smile in their training. I always do this, and it turns out I am right. I wasn't a strong player in the past, but I always understood how players felt about what the coach said.
