Also 22 from the Bundesliga: Simmons lost in the Premier League along with Wirtz

Tottenham spent 52 million pounds to sign Harvey Simmons in the summer window, hoping that he could bring "talent and inspiration" to the team, but fans are still waiting. Because he failed to make an impact against Aston Villa and because he attempted a failed pass against Leeds United. No one could have imagined that Tottenham's all-time leading player would perform so poorly in the Premier League.

The high transfer fee brings huge expectations. Just ask Wirtz. The 22-year-old German midfielder is the same age as Simmons and cost Liverpool more than £100 million to sign him from Bayer Leverkusen. Both have failed to find the rhythm in the Premier League that they had in the Bundesliga. Wirtz has been with Liverpool since June, while Simmons didn't join Tottenham until the end of August.

"This is a good comparison," Frank said before the Champions League match against Monaco. "Wiltz is a very good player. Like Simmons, when they come to a new country, a new club, and a new city, they need time to adapt."

Simmons played 499 minutes for Tottenham in all competitions and has yet to score a goal. He has only one assist - on his Premier League debut against West Ham United, when he set up Sarr's header from a corner kick. Those are not ideal numbers for a player who is expected to fill a creative void on his team.

In the last round of the Premier League, Villa won at Tottenham Hotspur with goals from Rogers and Buendia. These two attacking midfielders have similar field positions to Simmons, and their performance on the field completely defeated Simmons. Currently, Simmons is deployed as a left winger, but his ideal role should be the No. 10 in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

The Dutch international came from Barcelona's Masia youth training and idolizes Neymar. His trajectory from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain is also similar to that of his idol. After joining Tottenham, he used one word to describe his style: "flair". Simmons perfectly fits the definition of the No. 10 position in modern football: he is full of energy, fast, keeps running, actively presses, can pass threatening balls, play one-two combinations, and threatens the goal when he is in good condition.

Tottenham fans only briefly saw his edge in one game - against Brighton, he came on as a substitute to help the team equalize the score after falling two goals behind. He had three shots on goal in those 29 minutes, compared with just one shot in total in the four Premier League games he started.

In his breakthrough season at PSV, he scored 22 goals in 48 games; in his two years at Leipzig, he scored 22 goals in 78 games. The Premier League is a higher level league and he may need time to adapt. But if he really wants to become Tottenham's core No. 10 and bring "talent", he must start affecting the game. Because Berivar is competing with him for the same position, and Kulusevski will also return before the end of the year.
