Football

May 13th According to the Sun, Chelsea former player Hutchinson underwent surgery due to heart problems after the game.

It is reported that AFC Wimbledon star Sam Hutchinson underwent surgery for heart problems after the game against Grimsby. The former Chelsea player scored a winning goal in the May 3 game, helping the team secure an upgrade to the playoffs before being taken to hospital. The 35-year-old defensive midfielder played the entire game in which AFC Wimbledon beat Grimsby, who is also a playoff contender. His close shot in the 52nd minute ensured the team was fifth and would face Notts County in the first round playoffs.

However, Hutchinson missed Saturday's first leg in Meadowland due to heart surgery. The former Chelsea player complained about chest discomfort in a post-match interview at Brundell Park.

Speaking about this, Hutchinson said: "Honestly, I felt bad during the game and somehow had a very strong chest tightness. I wanted to get out of the first six minutes, but I had to stick with it like an old war horse."

Hutchinson was taken to the hospital on his way back and was treated and evaluated at the Queen's Medical Center and the City Hospital. The club statement said: "Hutchinson had a successful surgery in London last weekend and now he has a clear comeback plan. All members of AFC Wimbledon extended their best wishes to Hutchinson, who is recovering at home and with his family. Hutchinson played a key role in the team's success this season. Although he is recovering, he is still continuing to have an impact on the team and we hope the season will end in a positive way. The club sincerely thanks the Queen's Medical Center, City Hospital and Cleveland Hospital in London for the support and care provided by him."

It is understood that Hutchinson grew up at the Chelsea youth camp, but only played five times for the first team between 2007 and 2014. During this period, he was loaned to Nottingham Forest and Witts Arnhem before permanently transferring to Sheffield Wednesday. Hutchinson's career was full of twists and turns and he was forced to retire in 2010 due to severe knee problems. At the time, as Chelsea defender, he announced his retirement at the age of 21. But about 18 months later, the former young English talent returned to Stamford Bridge after extensive recovery. Hutchinson joined Reading after eight years at Sheffield Wednesday, where he spent the past two seasons.
