Dundee has appointed Steven Presley as the new head coach of the Scottish Premier League club.

The 51-year-old veteran replaced Tony Doherty’s spot at Dance Park, who was fired after leaving them in the top league on the final day of the season. Presley also coached Hertz, Falkirk, Coventry City, Fleetwood Town and Carlisle United, leaving Brentford last week after four years as head of individual player development at Premier League clubs.

The former Scottish defender has not coached since leaving Carlisle in 2019, playing under the Celtics' Deep Blue Technical Director Gordon Stracan. Dundee said he is an outstanding candidate in the full selection process, with a new head coach with “excellent knowledge and experience.”

Steven Presley is our new head coach and Dundee Football Club is happy to announce the appointment of Steven Presley as the club's new head coach today.

Managing Director John Nelms said: "We are delighted to welcome Steven Presley as the new head coach of Dundee Football Club. "Steven spent the past four years at Premier League club Brentford, bringing a shared core value for player development and a comprehensive approach to winning football. "

" Steven will install a framework that conveys the message that the Sinier participants and the development participants are an effective team. This will bring success to Dundee Football Club on and off the stadium. "Welcome to the club, Steven, we are looking forward to many successful seasons." The club revealed that Presley will shorten the silver wedding anniversary holiday in the Far East to accept new jobs, but has already started working.

Dundee also announced the appointment of David Longwell as technical manager as part of the restructuring of the football division. “David came to us and had a long and productive history of player development in the north and south of the border,” Nelms said.

"Player development has always been a priority for our club, and it is important that the restructuring of the football department will emphasize this more as the number of young emerging talents increases."

"His main responsibility is to work with technical director Gordon Stracan and head coach Steven Presley to ensure the centralized development of the players individually." "David will also take on other roles in the first team. "Welcome to the club, David, we look forward to many successes in the future. ”
