Merseyside Police confirmed that a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving and drug driving. Just after 6 p.m. local time on Monday, police received a report that a car hit several pedestrians on Water Street in downtown. A large number of emergency service personnel arrived at the scene, including police cars, fire trucks and ambulances. It is understood that the accident caused 50 people to be injured, including one adult and one child.

Liverpool Regional Mayor Steve Rotheram said four people are still in critical condition and are receiving treatment in the hospital.
