May 11th, British club Reading officially announced last week that the team will be sold to the American Redwood Holdings Company, ending Dai Yongge's eight-year control of the team. According to media reports, Dai Yongge sold Reading for £30 million.
In 2017, Dai Yongge acquired Reading in the Championship for 24.5 million pounds. In the following eight years, Dai Yongge injected a total of more than 250 million pounds into Reading, but due to poor management, Reading was in arrears for a long time and was reduced to the English League One and was deducted points many times. According to data from the UK Company Registration Agency, Reading lost nearly 200 million pounds in 8 years.
According to the Telegraph, in 2023, former F1 Haas team title sponsor Rich Energy intends to acquire Reading for £50 million, but due to the excessive demands of Dai Yongge, it scared away many acquirers.
