Boateng: 23 years of return to Bayern failed due to private life and domestic violence accusations, but I am innocent

In an exclusive interview with German media Sport1, 36-year-old Bayern former player Boateng talked about the failure to return to Bayern in the winter window of 2023 and responded to allegations of domestic violence.

Then why did the return fail?

"At that time, there were many injured in Bayern, and their recovery progress was slower than expected. In addition, my private life and lawsuits affected me. This was life, and things did not succeed in the end. Although it was not a big problem, it was really regrettable. Being able to return to work in the old boss would have been a wonderful thing."

Talking about domestic violence allegations

"That period was very difficult for me and my family. I had to defend myself in court for suspected serious injury to my ex-partner. Last summer, I was acquitted. However, the court warned me because in an argument, I injured my ex-girlfriend's eyes. I must emphasize that she also injured my lips. We hurt each other in the argument, which is one of the reasons why the court only warned me."

So you are completely innocent?

"If you refer to the case of my ex-girlfriend Cassia and me, the case was dropped in March 2025. So I'm clear to you: Yes. I think I'm legally innocent because I've never hit her, but that doesn't mean I don't blame myself. That interview in February 2021 was a mistake, and I've always admitted it. But I never abused her, and I stated this in court, and there is evidence that I didn't hit her in October 2019, nor did I Force her to sign a confidentiality agreement. "

Talk about obtaining a B-level coaching license

"I am very interested in coaching work. After years of football, I have accumulated rich experience and have cooperated with many coaches. I hope to pass on these experiences, no matter where I am. I still need to explore myself in the future, and I prefer to become an assistant coach or a head coach? Or to deepen my youth training field? These all make me interested."

But the long-term goal is still the head coach, right?

"This is indeed my goal, and I often communicate with some senior coaches. Frick has been an assistant coach for many years and has achieved great success now. He is a good example. It is okay to take such a path. I still need to further explore the path that suits me."
