Arsenal football director Andrea Berta arrives to watch the Premier League matches

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta intends to sign AC Milan striker Rafael Leao this summer, as the Arsenal sporting director's preference for the striker has also been revealed.

Berta joined the Gunners in March and reportedly will receive a transfer fee of £300 million to bring in new players, which looks to be the first big transfer window he himself took the helm.

Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is expected to join the club, and the left winger and forward are also considered key signing targets.

Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams is Mikel Arteta's most optimistic left-wing player and will compete with Gabriel Martinelli, but Italian reports say they may choose Leo, who has scored 12 goals and 13 assists in all games this season.

Although Leo's return is very reasonable, Calciomercato reported that although there is no "rift" in Leo's relationship with the club, Milan is still somewhat disappointed with his performance this season.

There are no plans to offer Leo a new contract as his current contract will last until 2028, including a €175 million termination clause, but it is believed that Arsenal or other interested clubs may sign him this summer at a price well below that price.

AC Milan reportedly offered 100 million euros (£84 million) for the 25-year-old, while Italian Sports said the Gunners were "not afraid at all".

Berta is the leader because Leo is a "player that Italians admire very much" but "the discussion has not yet been deepened."

They may also face competition from Chelsea as Calciomercato claims the Blues have had informal talks with Leo's entourage, and Saudi professional league team Al Nassr is also interested in the Portuguese international.

Berta's plan to find a new striker is also going well. As Dream Team forward Alexander Isaac joins, the Italian player has set his sights on Sporting Lisbon's Victor Giokelez. The report states:

It is reported that Arsenal's new sporting director Andrea Berta is inclined to introduce forward Viktor Gyokeres because it is a key summer transfer window for the club.

"If the Sporting Lisbon center leaves the Portuguese club, he is expected to prioritize Arsenal over Manchester United - the latter has also been interested in him."

Berta also tried to sign the striker during his tenure as Atletico Madrid sporting director, and Sporting Lisbon is reportedly preparing for the Swedish international's departure and listed four substitutes, but the Swedish international has not yet informed the club where he wants to go.
