The last dance of the point guard god! Paul is no longer possible to stay in the Spurs, the Mavericks may sign him to Irving temporarily

Basketball

Chris Paul, a future Hall of Fame member, signed a one-year contract with the San Antonio Spurs after being abandoned by the Golden State Warriors last summer. This season, Paul played 82 games for the Spurs, averaging 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.3 blocks per game, shooting percentage of 42.7%, three-point shooting percentage of 37.7%, and free throw shooting percentage of 92.4%. But the Spurs have only achieved a record of 34 wins and 48 losses this season, missing the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year.

The Spurs are a turbulent year. Old coach Greg Popovich suffered a stroke and stopped coaching the team. Defender Daron Fox was traded from the Sacramento Kings. Victor Vinbanyama, the cornerstone of the team, underwent surgery to treat deep vein thrombosis in the right shoulder.

The Spurs were lucky enough to get the second draw in this year's lottery, creating a close connection with talented point guard Dylan Harper from Rutgers University. According to well-known journalist Mark Stein, Paul is not expected to return to the Spurs because the team now has a combination of Fox and Stephen Castle on the back line, and they may also choose Harper.

Stein said: "People are increasingly convinced that Paul will transfer again this offseason. Although he has achieved unabashed success as a mentor for a group of young players such as Spurs' Vinbanyama, the reality is that the Spurs won Fox in February this year and Castle played the Rookie of the Year season."

Stein also reported that the Dallas Mavericks are interested in signing Paul, 40. Because Kyrie Irving will be out for a long time next season due to a torn left ACL, they need a starting point guard to control the team's offense. Paul averaged 17 points, 4.4 rebounds and 9.2 assists per game in his career, and where his next stop is worth paying attention to.
