Goodbye, Kumingga! Hello, DeRozan?

Basketball

As we all know, Kumingga is a bit awkward now.

Previous news, Kumingaso's annual salary was rejected (35 million last year) and then reduced the price to 25 million. As a result, the Warriors are now unwilling to provide 25 million, and are open to trading Kuming.

Now, Kumingga has only three ways out:

1. Sign a qualification quotation of 7.9 million yuan for one year, wait until next year's offseason, and then go to chase the big contract

2. Accept the lower-priced contract given by the Warriors. It is hard to say that the long-term contract is short, and the annual salary may be less than 20 million yuan, and it may come with team options

3. Find the next one who is willing to give the big contract by yourself, and then promote the new team to sign first and then exchange with the Warriors. The first two plans will definitely cause economic losses to Kumingga, so Kumingga's team is more inclined to the third one.

Latest news, according to ESPN Warriors Anthony Slater, in addition to contract demands, Kumingga is also seeking a more secure starting position and core position. At present, the Kings and the Suns have expressed their commitments to him.

As for the King, Anthony Slater revealed that Kumingga is open to joining the King, and he has met with the King's senior executives in recent days, including Kings general manager Scott Perry and head coach Doug Christie.

Then Kings podcast host Allen Stiles broke the news on the show that a gentleman agreement was reached between the Kings and DeRozan: If the team successfully gets Kumingga, DeRozan will be sent away.

First of all, it is completely understandable for the king to send DeRozan away. After all, since you want to get Kumingga and train him as the core, DeRozan, who is in the same position as Kumingga, will definitely be cleaned up.

Then, let's take a look at DeRozan's current level.

During his time with the Kings last season, DeRozan played a total of 77 games, averaging 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, shooting percentage of 47.7%/32.8%/85.7% in three events, and a real shooting percentage of 56.9%.

DeRozan's advantages are obvious. He is a famous scorer. He has averaged 20+ points per game for 12 consecutive seasons. His offensive skills are excellent. Even at the age of 35, he is still very good at attacking frames, mid-range and fouls.

And DeRozan has the ability to solve the problem, and his passing skills have improved over the years. He has strong control and turnover ability. The assist-and-turnover ratio last season reached 3.26, the second highest in his career. In terms of the contract, DeRozan is also very cost-effective. The annual salary next season is 24.75 million, and the annual salary next season is 25.74 million, and only 10 million is guaranteed. If you encounter a cliff-like decline, you don’t have to pay too much to buy out.

But DeRozan also has many shortcomings, first of all, there is no three-pointer, which leads to his overall offensive efficiency not being high. Last season's real shooting percentage is the lowest in the past six years (about 59% in the previous five years), and his offense requires ball rights, so it is difficult for him to play without the ball.

In addition, DeRozan is not outstanding on the defensive end. Last season alone, DeRozan averaged 11.0 shots per game. Not only did his opponent's shooting percentage not drop, but instead increased by 2.9% and his three-pointers increased by 2.8%. His defensive BPM is -1.2, which is exactly the opposite of offensive BPM (+1.2).

Now DeRozan is definitely capable, and it is definitely worthy of recognition that he can still have this state at the age of 35, but his style of play is relatively solid, and because he needs the ball, no three-pointers, no defense, and has poor adaptability. He is only suitable for being a role of about three leaders. The team also needs good defensive resources to make up for his shortcomings.

So, if Kumingga really went to the King, is it possible for DeRozan to go to the Warriors?

Personally, I think the answer should be no. On the one hand, DeRozan is too old now. If he joins the Warriors, he, Curry, Green and Butler will be over 35 years old. The team's injury risk and physical management are prone to problems.

On the other hand, the Warriors already have Butler. A star in the same position who has stronger defense, no loss in hard resolution, higher scoring efficiency, and better passes seems to have no need to get DeRozan again.

So if there is really a deal, it is highly likely that DeRozan will go to a third-party team. As for who this team will be, it is hard to say now. After all, to be honest, almost all teams currently have reasons that they do not need DeRozan, which is also the reason why he could only sign a three-year 74 million contract with the Kings last year.

For the Warriors, the ideal situation is to get Keegan Murray from Kumingga's trade (not likely), strengthen the front line and projection, and rejuvenate the lineup - if the Kings are really willing to trade (after all, send Halliburton away), then the Warriors will be able to get Moody again and take Saric or someone else's contract.

As for DeRozan, his existence once again proves one thing that in today's era, sometimes All-star stars do not necessarily have functional players. At this stage of his career, it is a bit difficult for Azan to compete for the championship. If there is no transaction before the deadline next year, there may be a buyout. The decision at that time may be very important.
