Talking about returning to the Heat, Achiuwa said: "I feel that there is still some unfinished business here. The team culture of the Miami Heat fits my playing style just right. The game here is full of resilience and intensity, so I feel like I am back home here."

Achiuwa was selected by the Heat with the 20th overall pick in the first round of 2020. Last season, he played 57 times for the New York Knicks, averaging 20.5 minutes per game, 6.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.7 blocks, and 0.8 steals. He shot 50.2% from the field, 27.8% from three-point range, and 59.4% from the free throw line.
