A verbal agreement! Horford Melton promises to join the Warriors and wait for Kuminga to resolve the problem and sign the contract

On July 22, according to NBA reporter Brett Segal, Horford and Melton have reached an oral agreement with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are waiting for the dust to settle for Cumingga's restricted free agent matters before they officially sign Horford and Melton.

Sigel wrote: "The main problem with the Warriors is that there is no market at the moment. This situation may delay until August, and continue to hinder the team's other arranged transactions in the free agent market."

"As we mentioned many times in the column, Al Horford and D'Anthony Melton will sign the Warriors. Several team members from the NBA Summer League said that Horford and Melton have reached oral agreements with the Warriors."

Last season, Horford played for the Celtics; and Melton was traded to the Nets due to a torn ACL ligament on the left knee after playing for the Warriors for six games. The Warriors achieved a record of 48 wins last season. They beat the Houston Rockets through seven games in the first round of the playoffs, but lost 1-4 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round.

The Warriors defeated the Timberwolves away in their first away match in the Western Conference semi-finals. However, Stephen Curry suffered a left hamstring injury in the first match and missed all the remaining games of the series. After losing the NBA legend, the Warriors suffered a four-game losing streak.

Last season, Horford played 60 games for the Celtics. The five-time All-Star player and 2024 NBA champion averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, shooting 42.3% from the field, 36.3% from three-pointers and 89.5% from free throws.

Meanwhile, during his time with the Warriors last season, Melton averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists, shooting 40.7% from the field, 37.1% from three-pointers and 62.5% from free throws.

The Warriors have not made any moves in the free agent market yet, and Kumingga's restricted free agent problem is the key to hindering the team's operations.
