The No. 1 pick Wall personally announced his retirement to cause heated discussion! Bill Towns sends his blessings. The Wizards official praises: The Legend of Eternal
On August 20, 34-year-old NBA No. 1 pick John Wall officially retired, and wrote in his retirement statement: Retired but never stopped, continue to move forward in Wall's way.
John Wall was the No. 1 pick in 2010. He officially announced his retirement at the age of 34. His last game in his NBA career was on January 14, 2023. The Clippers, who he played for, lost to the Nuggets 103-115. At that time, Wall played for 29 minutes and 22 seconds, made 6 of 12 shots, made 2 of 4 three-pointers and 2 of 2 free throws, scored 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal. After Wall retired, Paul George was the only player in the 2010 draft, and the first 10-year No. 1 pick in this century was only 2003 No. 1 pick left. James was still in the NBA.
Wall's retirement has caused heated discussion. He is the assist king and steal king in the history of the Wizards, and the fourth in the history of the total team. The Wizards official posted posters to send blessings and wrote: One of the best team history! He defined an era, a legend forever, a wizard forever. John Wall, congratulations to your retirement.
Bill posted a photo and wrote: Congratulations to my brother John Wall on his retirement from the NBA. Always be a family, you are one of the top, most dominant, and most influential figures in league history. Thank you for opening your arms to welcome me and urging me to do my best. Without Dub there would be no basketball! Thank you, brother! I wish you enjoy the next chapter of your life!
Knicks star Downs tweeted and paid tribute: "Kentucky Wildcats GOAT, brother, enjoy retirement life." It is worth mentioning that both Towns and Wall are from the University of Kentucky, Towns was the No. 1 pick in 2015, while Wall was the No. 1 pick in 2010.
Wall has played in the NBA for 11 seasons, playing for the Wizards, Rockets and Clippers, playing in 647 games, averaging 18.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game; he played in 37 games in the playoffs, averaging 21.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game; his total career salary is as high as US$276 million, and he signed a four-year, $171 million maximum salary contract with the Wizards in 2018.
Wall was selected as the All-Star five times in his career, once in the Best Third Team, once in the Best Defensive Second Team, and was selected as the Best First Team of the Rookie in the 2010-11 season; in the 2014 NBA All-Star Dunk Contest, Wall won the Dunk Championship.
