Basketball

According to Serbian sports media Meridian Sport, Serbian inside player Alen Smailagic will not participate in the next 2025 Men's Basketball European Cup. According to reports, Smayragic has returned to his upcoming team, Virtus Bologna, who will play for next season and is ready to start recovery from injuries and preparations for the new season.

Smayrajic was born in August 2000. He is 25 years old, 208cm tall and weighs 98kg. He is the inside player selected by the Golden State Warriors in the 39th pick in the second round in the 2019 NBA Draft. In the NBA, Smayrajic has only played 29 times in total, averaging only 7.7 minutes per game, and averaging only 3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.3 blocks. He also made 0.6 turnovers, shooting percentage of 46.3%, three-point shooting percentage of 30.4%, and free throw shooting percentage of 72%. In the NBA arena, Smayrajic's performance has not improved significantly. Two seasons later, he was cut by the Warriors in advance, and he has never returned to the NBA field since then. After leaving the NBA, Smayrajć played for many years with the Serbian giants Belgrade Guerrillas. Last season, Smayrajic switched to the Lithuanian League powerhouse Sarkilis. In the Lithuanian League last season, Smayrajic played a total of 39 games, averaging 17.5 minutes per game, with averaging 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.4 blocks, and 0.7 turnovers and 2.3 fouls. His shooting percentage was 59.1%, a three-point shooting percentage of 42.2%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 80%. In the Champions League last season, Smayragic made a total of 29 appearances, averaging 15 minutes of playing time, averaging 8.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.6 blocks, and 0.9 turnovers and 2.3 fouls. His shooting percentage was 54.9%, three-point shooting percentage was 34.9%, and free throw shooting percentage was 73.5%.

Smayrajic's performance has been steadily improving in recent seasons. He actually has very comprehensive personal abilities on the offensive end. He can use various methods to complete scores, and his stability in outside shooting can also be considered an outstanding level among big players. For the Serbian men's basketball team, Smayrajic is actually a very important player, and he can also provide a lot of help and support to the team on the offensive end. Now that Smayrajć is missing, the Serbian team will obviously encounter some trouble in terms of tactical richness. I don’t know how Smayrajic’s injury is, what kind of performance will he perform after he transfers to Bologna Vitus next season?
