Interestingly, Warriors legend Monta Ellis candidly talk about Stephen Curry s early experience

Basketball

Former Warriors guard Monta Ellis talks about how Stephen Curry has ranked among the all-time superstars in NBA.

Monta Ellis has been an excellent scorer in his 12-year NBA career. He played for the Golden State Warriors for seven years and witnessed the team's picks of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in 2009 and 2011, respectively. Ellis had already moved to the Milwaukee Bucks when the team picked Draymond Green. He talked with former NBA best defensive player Tony Allen about how Curry grew from a striking rookie to one of the league’s iconic figures. Curry, 37, is still struggling to win the next championship despite his injury.

When Curry joined the Warriors in 2009, the Warriors were full of talents. Ellis, Stephen Jackson and Cory Magetti competed for playing time with the rookie. Head coach Don Nelson gave most of his playing time to Curry, who averaged 36.2 minutes per game in his first season in the NBA.

Ellis told Allen on "Out the Mud" that he hadn't expected Curry's growth before.

"…I know he works hard. He will definitely pay attention,” Ellis said. "He was very focused on what I did and put it into the game. When he came, it was very messy. When he first came, it was very messy. Teammates would talk to the bosses about what the players were doing and what they did. So he came, it was very messy. I know he would become that way? No, but he really worked hard."

Curry was the only player left in 2009, and a few years later in his career, he and Thompson formed the "Splash Brothers". After winning four championships, Curry found himself among the top ten players in history.

The fifth championship will greatly improve his resume, but the Warriors are facing difficulties in the second round. Green's technical foul trouble and Curry's injury, the fifth championship will exhaust all their power.
